The LMA Certificate Course provides a comprehensive introduction to syndicated loan markets around the world,
Guiding delegates through the full lifecycle of loan transactions and the evolving market landscape.
Over three days, delegates will take a high-level look at the full spectrum of the syndicated loan market including products, market segments, key participants, transaction processes, documentation, regulation and more.
Facilitated by ex-market practitioners and featuring guest speakers representing a wide range of market participants, each course uses practical case studies and interactive exercises to connect theory with real-world application, creating a structured learning journey from foundational concepts to more advanced market dynamics.
By completing this course, delegates will be able to:
- Identify the key products, participants, market segments, documentation and transaction stages that underpin the syndicated loan market.
- Differentiate between the principal lending markets, transaction structures and stakeholder roles encountered in loan market transactions.
- Apply core loan market concepts to practical transaction scenarios, including product selection, documentation, pricing and transaction management considerations.
- Evaluate the influence of market developments, lender evolution, technology, intercreditor issues, portfolio management, secondary trading and regulation on loan market activity.
Please note that this course will be CPD accredited – the LMA recommends that 24 learning hours can be associated with this course, based on attended/undertaken hours of study required to successfully complete the learning outcomes.

The LMA Certificate Course will be delivered four times in 2027 (subject to demand):
Johannesburg – March 2027 (dates TBC)
Dubai – May 2027 (dates TBC)
Amsterdam – September 2027 (dates TBC)
London – November 2027 (dates TBC)
Each course is fully catered, including a light breakfast, cold lunch plus hot/cold drinks and refreshments during breaks. There will also be networking drinks on the second day after each course. If you have any dietary requirements please let us know when you complete the registration form.
Delegates will be sent the course materials before the live sessions and provided access to the assessment platform on the final day. For those delegates that wish to sit the exam, they will be expected to do so within one month of completing the course – course certificates will be issued following successful completion of the exam. For those NOT sitting the exam a Certificate of Attendance is available on request, subject to minimum attendance requirements (80%).

Who should study the programme?
The LMA Certificate Course is designed for those who are new to the syndicated loan market, have recently moved into a related role, or wish to develop a more holistic understanding of how loan transactions are originated, structured, documented, distributed, administered and managed throughout their lifecycle
It is particularly suited to people working in banks, institutional investors, private credit firms, law firms, advisory businesses, corporate treasury teams, agency functions and market infrastructure providers.
Assessment
The exam consists of 50 multiple choice questions which candidates have two hours to complete. To pass, candidates must answer a minimum of 30 questions correctly (60%), with a score of 45 or more earning a distinction (90%).
This course is certified by the Loan Market Association and accredited by CPD® Certification Service.
